Nobody believes me when I say I have only been marketing online for a couple months. Well, I did do some email marketing for another business, but I wouldn’t classify what I have done in the past as online marketing. These past couple months have been a magic transformation for me. It all started when my friend Josh introduced an Attraction Marketing system to me.

I have learned a lot in the last few months. However, there are a few things which I think are the most important lessons I have learned and if I were to start all over again, these are the things I will follow strictly from the beginning.

1. There is No Magic Formula

A lot of people will probably be disappointed when I say this. However, it is the hard truth. If someone asks you to pay him $3000 and he will give you the magic formula to help you generate a 6 figure income in 6 months, my advice is “run”! I’ve purchased a few books and courses with these hyped up claims. They didn’t ‘explode my business’ but I did learn a great deal. So you have to realistic when buying into all these courses. You are there to learn and don’t expect magic transformation in a short period of time.

2. Persistency is The Key

I nearly quit after 2 months when I saw low results. However, I persisted and I am glad I did. You need to have a clear goal and work for it and don’t give up because of small setbacks along the way.

3. Learn from The Best (but not all from one person)

Whatever you want to learn, find out who is the best person in that area and learn from him or her. You have to ask around, do your research and find out who is out there who are good at what you want to learn. Once you have identified someone, you can either join his/her mailing list, connect with him or buy his course. However, you have to keep in mind not to follow one person blindly because you need to learn to look at things from different perspectives. If you are the smartest person at most of your team training meetings, it’s time to look outside that group!

4. Keep Improving and Learning

Once you have found a method which works for you, don’t just relax and be content. You need to either keep improving to get better results or learn something new. You remember the recent Google Slap? Those who were 100% dependent on Google Adwords for their traffic suffered the most.

5. Give Before You Take

This is so true. If you give without hoping for return, the return will come. Help a lot of people achieve their goal and you will achieve yours. I learned this from personal experience.

6. It is All About Relationship and Value

If there is only one thing you are going to take away from this article, this is it. No matter what you do, what marketing method you use, what you sell, online or offline, relationship and value is at the heart of everything. This is even more true if you are doing network marketing because it really is a people business. Affiliate marketing is no different. I know you can sell affiliate products using direct marketing like PPC, but relationship and value is how you will get repeat customers!

7. Build on Your Results

Momentum is the key. Once you have some results, you need to build on them as soon as possible to keep the momentum going. For example, if you have just generated your first 100 leads online, then build on it by writing a blog post on how you got there from being a complete newbie. If you received your first commission check, make a video about it, post it on your blog or take a snapshot of it and post it as a photo! Not only that, you should also try to reinvest most of your initial profit into the business if you don’t need the money to buy food for your family.

I hope you learned something from this post. If you like it, hate it or have any extra points you want to make, please comment.
