I’m known for promoting a variety of online methods to generate network marketing leads. Today I want to share a favorite offline method – Drop Cards.

A Drop Card is nothing more than a slip of paper that you intentionally ‘drop’ or leave behind you. The magic of these little cards is in thier simplicity and in the intrigue they create.

If you saw a $10, $20 or $100 bill lying on the ground I’m sure you would pick it up, right? Flip it over and there is a thought provoking statement such as “Fire Your Boss. #1 Home-Based Business” or “Need More Leads? Need More Reps?”or “If You Want to Work for the Rest of Your Life, That’s Your Business; If You Don’t That’s My Business.”  In addition to your catch phrase, the only other thing on your Drop Card should be a Website URL. (Don’t leave a phone number or you’ll probably get a call asking you to stop dropping stuff in public places :-) )

What should be on your website? A video; less than 200 words of text and a capture form asking for a name, email and phone number. In the video, thank the person for taking the time to visit your site. Reassure them that you are a real person and have valuable information to share.  Explain that providing contact information separates the ‘curious’ from the ‘serious’ and that you only have time for the ‘serious’. Be yourself and be brief. Don’t promote your network marketing business in the video.

It is recommended to have an autoresponder service such as Aweber to send them an immediate welcome email and information about how and when you’ll be in touch. You could also provide information about an upcoming opportunity call or presentation in the automatic response. When you follow up with this person in phone you may find they are not interested now; but you’ll have them on your list. Call back every few months and provide occasional valuable email updates on your activities.

This is a strategy that the newest, most timid member of your team can implement. This strategy can generate an endless stream of inbound, prequalified leads.I’m sure you are wondering where to drop your Drop Cards. Here are ten ideas to get you started. Have a team party to brainstorm more.
